Many schools join FAMAT to compete in one or more competitions.  There are four things that a school must do to be able to do this:

1.  Get a NATIONAL MU ALPHA THETA charter and be an active member of the national organization and renew dues each April.

Kay will provide information to obtain a national charter.  In addition, chartered schools must pay yearly dues to keep their chapter active.  If your chapter is delinquent for 2 years, you will be dropped from the membership list. 

2.  Join the Florida Association of Mu Alpha Theta (FAMAT) and pay dues by November 1.  A FAMAT APPLICATION FOR 2007-2008 MEMBERSHIP should be downloaded and completed.  You can get more information by contacting FAMAT.
    After schools have a national charter (or during the process), schools can join FAMAT.  A membership form will be available in the first edition of the Mu's News or by contacting the FAMAT treasurer.

3. Initial Registration for a Regional or Invitational Competition

The registration fee is $7 per test if your competition registration form and check is postmarked by the deadline listed for this competition. 

For schools not registering by the deadline, the registration fee will be $15 per test as long as the registration and check are postmarked between 3 and 13 days before the competition and the host agrees in writing to allow your school. Schools showing up with no prior notification will not be allowed to compete. 

If you register on time, you may add up to 8 students at $9 each up to 3 days before the competition. You must contact the host when you add these students. 

Whether you send your registration by mail, email, or phone, you will be responsible for paying for each student you register whether or not they are present at the competition. 

If you did not pay your dues by November 1 of the current school year, you will need to carry your letter of receipt from the treasurer to each competition to avoid paying the $50 non-FAMAT member fee.
